Let’s first off say big props to Team Third Law members who participated in and completed the Tough Mudder. Roberto Torralbas, Katy Torralbas, Joey Ruggerio, Joe Formica, Crystal Bradley, Tyson Beebe, and Shaun Ertischek took on the challenge of running a twelve mile course with obstacles designed by British Special Forces.
The event started December 4, bright and early at 9:45 in the morning.
The energy was high, as everyone was anticipating one of the toughest events in the world.
Tough Mudder was not so much a race but a challenge in which Team Third Law really came together. The students and coaches who participated helped each other every step of the way, making sure to leave no one behind. We pushed each other to go faster and push their limits.
Facing your fears was a challenge everyone had to face.
One of the most difficult and talked-about obstacles were the temperature extremes, from the cold feeling of jumping in a tub of ice to holding your breath while very close to hot, smoking fires.
Also, the mud was a challenge in itself especially for the brave Roberto, Katy, Joey and Joe, who took it a step further and wore their gis, adding at least twenty pounds of sweat and mud. Among the many challenges, everyone really stuck with it, with all of the team members completing the race.
Shelley and Joey G were great supporters and helped a lot in taking pictures and cheering on the team, thank you!
Overall, it was a great team event in which the team’s mental strength, endurance and perseverance were tested. Everyone passed with flying colors!
Training a martial art really prepares you for events like this where you have to overcome obstacles and challenges, however hard they may be.
Also, the great camaraderie Team Third Law has helped us all get through — it gave the competitors the little push everyone needs from someone else to finish strong. Great job everyone and congratulations on finishing one of the toughest events in the world!
Can’t wait till the next one
