Team Third Law Classes and Training Programs

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling art that uses principles of leverage and body mechanics allowing a smaller, weaker opponent to defeat a larger person using technique. We provide students with all levels of training, whether you’re a pure beginner or you want to compete and become a world champion. In the class you’ll get a great workout, work on building strength, endurance and athleticism and learn detailed self defense techniques.

Our program covers all grappling arts, including techniques from wrestling, Judo, No Gi grappling and sambo, to ensure a well-balanced and complete curriculum that will get you into great shape.

LEARN MORE >

Judo

Jiu Jitsu and Judo come from the same roots in Japan, both grappling arts, and both relying on physics to defeat strength. Judo evolved out of Jiu Jitsu, when a gentleman named Jigoro Kano fell in love with the grappling art and spread its practice throughout the world. Kano made Judo into an Olympic sport, and today it is focused on throwing techniques using the Gi, or uniform.

Great for building athleticism, explosive power and self defense on the feet, our grappling curriculum includes Judo attacks and defense as an important part.

LEARN MORE >

Wrestling

Wrestling has many different forms and rule-sets, and our style is to incorporate the best techniques from wrestling for self defense and grappling situations. Focused on taking down an opponent and pinning them, wrestling techniques involve grabbing a person’s legs, hips, arms and torso to put them on the ground. We practice it without the gi, or uniform, but many techniques can also be used while wearing the uniform as well.

Wrestling develops speed, power and explosive movements on the feet, both in offensive and defensive situations.

LEARN MORE >

No Gi Jiu Jitsu

An essential part of our grappling training, specific classes each week are dedicated to No Gi grappling and submission wrestling. Without the uniform, we focus on points of control on the body that allow for takedowns, pins and submissions.

In our more advanced classes, we focus on No Gi grappling and wrestling one night each week, with more emphasis at certain times of year following our competition season.

LEARN MORE >

Muay Thai Kickboxing

Muay Thai is a striking art that originated in Thailand and includes strikes with the fists, legs, elbows and knees. We provide the opportunity to learn Muay Thai in a very safe environment, and also make sure to work on the essentials of pure boxing, which is just striking with the fists.

We start by working on your technique, practicing with a partner using boxing mits, Muay Thai pads and all heavy bags. Later, if you want to challenge yourself more, there is the opportunity to step into the ring and do live sparring, all carefully supervised by our professional coaches.

LEARN MORE >

Boxing

Boxing, strikes and defense with the fists, is also an essential part of our martial arts curriculum. Incorporated into our Muay Thai Kickboxing curriculum, we also have dedicated boxing classes where we focus just on this essential art for self defense.

In boxing, our students work to master footwork, proper stance and posture, and proper body movement. From this essential foundation, they work on details of punches, defenses and timing in this striking art.

LEARN MORE >

Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed martial arts or MMA is the combination of different types of martial arts, made famous by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC. There are really two worlds in MMA, grappling and striking, and both are essential to become a complete fighter and a complete martial artist.

If you study MMA fighters, most study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing, since these arts have the broadest rule sets and more techniques are allowed in practice. Other, more specialized arts like Wrestling and Boxing are also essential.

LEARN MORE >

Women Only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a beautiful art for women to study because it is designed for the smaller, weaker person to be able to defend themselves against a bigger, stronger opponent or attacker. Many women decide to try BJJ as a way to get into great shape, while building confidence in their self defense skills.

Our women-only class is a community within the family of the school. All of the school’s classes are very female friendly and there are women in all of our group classes, but once a week we get together and work together in a women-only environment.

LEARN MORE >

Women’s Self Defense

Many women are intimidated by martial arts and wouldn’t dream of trying out a Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. But all women would like to learn how to protect themselves in a self defense situation.

This class focuses on techniques that are specifically effective for women, in both grappling and striking, to give women confidence in self defense situations.

Kids Programs

Martial arts provide an incredible opportunity for kids to work on life skills including focus, respect, discipline and persistence. Our kids classes include basic athletic development as well as essential self defense techniques from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Boxing. Kids enter the program in an introductory class appropriate for their physical, social and intellectual maturity.

Each group is specifically designed for the age and maturity level of the students in it, to make sure that they are constantly challenged. As they progress, they move up in age group as well as skill level, and more advanced training becomes available.

LEARN MORE >

Intro Kids Classes (ages 4 to 17)

Tiny Ninjas (ages 4-6)

In our Tiny Ninjas program we start with basic athletic formation to turn your child into a great athlete and a respectful martial artist. It’s a super fun and exciting environment where your little one will have a blast while working on basic movements to build agility, coordination, strength and power, as well as essential self defense.

At the same time, we are constantly working to help them develop good character and habits that will help them be successful in school.

LEARN MORE >

Little Ninjas (ages 6-11)

In the Little Ninjas program we work on building a strong athletic foundation as your child grows older. We work on essential life skills like focus, respect, discipline and confidence, with the goal of turning your child into a respectful and confident child who is at the top of their class academically, socially and athletically.

We work on essential self defense techniques in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing, self control and discipline, and anti-bullying strategies.

LEARN MORE >

Juniors (ages 11-13)

In our Juniors program we are helping your preteen/young teen learn to navigate their changing social environment. Our athletic preparation will ensure that their bodies become physically strong, agile, coordinated and that they are confident in their physical abilities. Plus, the self defense techniques that they learn in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing will ensure that they are confident kids who aren’t victims of bullying.

This is a critical age as they transition from elementary school to middle school and our professional coaches are there to guide them, and you, along this journey. Juniors train four days a week, two days a week in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the Gi, one day a week in No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling and one day a week in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Boxing.

LEARN MORE >

Teens (ages 13-17)

Our Teens program gives teens a place where they can challenge their bodies and their minds, and a positive environment for them to make friends and meet mentors who are going to push them in the right direction as they grow into young adults.

Teens classes provide a challenging and exciting training environment that is physically intense and designed to get them into great shape, while teaching them high level technique in these incredibly powerful martial arts. Teens train four days a week, two days a week in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the Gi, one day a week in No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling and one day a week in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Boxing.

After some time training, some of our teens decide to participate in competitions. Competition can be a great way for them to test their technique, mental strength and perseverance outside of our school environment, and give them goals to set and achieve.

Many of our older teens also earn the privilege to train in our Intro and Advanced Adults classes, including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing classes. The requirements for teens to join our adults program include good attendance in their teens classes, desire to learn, maturity, responsibility and good grades in school.

Advanced Kids Classes (ages 6 +)

Black Belt Club

When kids graduate from our Tiny Ninjas and Little Ninjas programs into more advanced classes they move first into our Black Belt Club program. This program raises the bar in kids athletics, asking “How far can your child go if they are disciplined, focused and determined to overachieve?” We have found that in the right environment, young kids can study and master very advanced martial arts techniques and defeat opponents years older and many pounds heavier than them.

Watch this class one day and you’ll be amazed at the perseverance, determination and self defense ability of our advanced kids. Our Black Belt Club Kids train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu twice a week in classes classes that incorporate Judo and Wrestling into the curriculum, as well as extra weekend Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing, as well as Sports and Athletic Development.

Requirements for the class include discipline, focus, grappling ability and mastery of our intro kids curriculum.

Masters Club

After Black Belt Club, our young martial artists move into our Masters Club program. Just like the move from intro classes into Black Belt Club, this jump requires discipline, focus, grappling ability and demonstrated mastery of the Black Belt Club curriculum. Many of the kids in our Masters Club class have been training with us since they were 4 or 5 years old. Now late elementary or middle school students, training martial arts has become a way of life for them, and our school has become a home away from home.

An elite group of motivated athletes, these kids train for two hours three days a week in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ( Gi and No Gi), Judo and Wrestling, and then again on the weekends for an hour and a half of Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing.

They also attend our Sports & Athletic Development class, and many of them are members of our Kids Travel Competition Team, which means extra training as well.

Advanced Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

A beautiful martial art for self defense, mental discipline and physical challenge, kids in our Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes become amazing athletes, respectful young adults and know how to persevere in both physically and mentally challenging situations.

Their curriculum includes advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques both Gi and No Gi, as well as techniques from related grappling arts Wrestling and Judo.

Advanced Kids Kickboxing & Boxing

On Saturday mornings our advanced kids spend time working on their striking skills. We start with proper stance, footwork and movement in all directions. Then we build upon that foundation into basic boxing essentials of punch defense and offense. Later, they work on their Muay Thai Kickboxing, incorporating different types of kicks as well as strikes with the elbows and strikes with the knees.

All striking practice is done in a very safe environment using proper protective equipment to keep kids safe. Kids have the opportunity to spar and to test their skills against partners who are appropriate matches for them, allowing them to learn essential self defense skills.

Advanced Kids Judo

Judo is an important part of our kids grappling curriculum, as it builds athleticism, speed, power and explosively in takedown grappling situations. From our intro classes, Judo techniques are incorporated into the kids curriculum.

In our most advanced kids classes the curriculum follows our adults Judo curriculum, focusing on powerful Judo techniques that are good for self defense and work in all grappling situations.

Advanced Kids Wrestling

Wrestling is another essential part of our grappling curriculum, building athleticism, speed, power and explosive takedown attacks and defenses. We incorporate wrestling into our kids curriculum from day one for all kids classes, whatever the age and level.

As kids get more advanced we add more advanced wrestling techniques, and in our higher levels dedicate one class per week to wrestling techniques.

Competition Travel Teams

Members of our competition team are members of our Black Belt Club, Masters Club and Juniors & Teens classes at Team Third Law Academy.

They are students who attend class consistently, focus, and seek out more challenge in their training.

Sports & Athletic Development

On Saturdays we have a special Sports & Athletic Development class, where kids from our advanced martial arts programs and our after school program come together to work on becoming the best athletes they can be.

We started this class because over years of teaching kids martial arts we noticed how confidence in athletics affected our students’ self esteem and performance in all areas of their lives. We want our kids to be strong in all directions, with Athletics, Academics, Character and Self Esteem being some of the most important areas.

While all of our martial arts programs include athletic development as a key building block, we created this class to spend a little extra time each week working on specific drills and practice outside of the martial arts. Each week the kids in our Sports and Athletic Development class play a different sport, doing exercises, drills and practice to improve their abilities. Sports include: Soccer, football, baseball, gymnastics, volleyball, track and field and many, many more.

After School Program

Our After School program is a high-quality, academic-focused program. Our kids, who we call Team Third Law’s Go Getters, arrive at our facility after school and work in an achievement-focused, structured academic environment. Our goal for all our kids is to help them achieve academic success well beyond what is expected of them in school — because we know all kids are capable of great things academically.

In our program we apply our our standards and benchmarks, and when you do that, it’s amazing to see what kids can achieve. We have:

    • First graders who know their multiplication tables 12×12
    • Kindergarteners doing 3rd grade addition and subtraction, reading and 2nd grade sight words
    • 3rd graders doing 6th grade fractions, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Negative Numbers

Kids really are limitless when you give them the tools!

Our first goal each day is to complete and check homework from school. Then we move on to our assignments: Spelling words, Math Word problems, workbooks in all subjects, Spanish language study and more.

After academic time is done, kids participate in martial arts classes, as well as play games, sports and all kinds of fun, physical play that is social, interactive and productive. NO electronic devices or video games are allowed.

Kids Summer Camp

Our Summer Camp program is an action-packed, super-productive social and learning environment where kids have a blast, participate in tons of fun activities and go on exciting field trips all around town.

It’s an all day program, with drop off as early as 7:30 am, structured activities from 9 am to 4 pm and pickup as late as 5:30 pm. Our day begins with academic time and then martial arts training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling.

Activities at the school include everything from dunk tanks and water balloon wars to indoor soccer, rock wall climbing and dodgeball tournaments. NO electronic devices or video games are allowed, all games are social, interactive and fun.

In addition, kids go on two field trips per week to local destinations including Sun N Fun Lagoon, Naples Zoo, mini golf, saltwater and freshwater fishing, the beach, and much, much more.

Private Lessons

We offer private lessons for Kids and Adults to clients who may have a busy schedule, or for one reason or another may not be able to attend our group classes.

Our kids and adults coaches have dedicated their lives to training and teaching martial arts, and they will tailor your lessons to match your goals, level and schedule.

I was a first time guest at Team Third Law today. They answered my questions, I was able to sign an online waiver, and I enjoyed my first class. All the participants were welcoming and the instructor, Coach Joe, helped me to understand the techniques he was demonstrating. He also made sure that I was matched with a suitable training partner. I highly recommend that everyone, from the curious, to the hobbyist, to the experienced martial artist check out Team Third Law!

I dropped in tonight for the Thursday Muay Thai session while in town and had a fantastic experience. Coach Joey was knowledgeable, friendly, and communicated techniques clearly while providing helpful feedback. The gym environment was awesome, everyone was welcoming, and there was a great mix of skill levels, making it easy for both beginners and advanced students to feel comfortable. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town and highly recommend anyone interested try an intro session here. Thank you again, Team Third Law!

There are not enough words to describe how much we love and appreciate Team Third Law Academy. My five-year-old daughter is absolutely thriving! Her confidence and self-esteem have grown tremendously since she started, and she truly enjoys every single class. She’s always excited to go and practice with her teammates. Coach Joe and the entire coaching staff are beyond professional—respectful, encouraging, and such amazing role models for the kids. They create an environment where children feel supported, challenged, and inspired. We genuinely feel like a part of one big family here. If you're looking for a positive, nurturing, and empowering environment for your child to grow both on and off the mats, we highly recommend joining Team Third Law. It’s been a game-changer for our family!

I am a 67 year old snow bird who winters in Naples and decided to take up Muay Thai as part of my retirement. I tried out Third Law based on its proximity to my residence and the wonderful reviews it had gotten. Best choice ever. Coach Joey is wonderful. His classes are great and entirely welcoming to students of all (adult) ages and experience levels. My experience, for example, was zero, while others in the class were quite experienced. Coach Joey fosters a community where each participant is respected. I just can’t say enough about this team and my time at Third Law. My class is now another reason I’m looking forward to trekking back to Naples next Winter.

We started sending our eldest child to TTL in spring 2022 and have continued ever-since. Our youngest now also now attends. We also started using TTL for summer camp last year and the kids love it! The coaches & staff at TTL are tough as nails but have the patience of saints, which is the perfect combination for our childrens' needs. We are very happy with our years at TTL.

My brother and I were visiting the Fort Myers area a few years back and decided to drop into a local Jiu Jitsu gym in the area. There were other gyms that were closer to where we were staying, but this gym had a lot of great reviews and when I called they were very friendly. My brother and I had a great experience and got good training for a noon class (typically smaller classes than an evening class). We would recommend this gym to anyone in the area or traveling from out of area.

This year was the first time my kiddos attended Team Third Laws Summer camp and we were not dissapointed. The kids had a blast on all the field trips and loved participating in the martial arts classes they did 3 times a week. A big plus was the kids were not on their tablets all summer and were continously active! The staff was amazing and we look forward to camp next year. If i had to give one critique it would be to extend camp a few more weeks:)

Started the program about two years ago, and before that i had no fighting experience. I was always interested in learning but, found myself always fearing I would go in, and it be full of ego. However, I was pleasantly surprised upon entering how friendly everyone is and calm even with someone so new to the concept as I. That extends to the staff as well as the other students. They thrust you into sparring at the end of each class (not forced but highly encouraged) even if it is your first class. I wasn't expecting that, but it is what I'm there for, so I went with it. The experience was amazing. The people I sparred with, was all in good fun and very informative in terms of technique and skill. They didn't make it easy though. Wouldn't want them too either. It's a fight it is not supposed to be. But if you ever needed a break from punching each other in the face it was perfectly normal, and you just talk about life for a minute and go back to it. Such an incredible feeling to be on such good terms with people after trying to beat one another up. Jokes, compliments on good hits and combos. No ego in sight. Never in the year and some change did I have a bad experience there and wow what improvement I received to my health and confidence. It translated to all aspects of my life. A real game changer. I had to take a break for a time and canceled my subscription due to life, but when i found time one night around christmas I wanted to see my old sparring partners. I was welcomed with open arms and gloves. They took me in so that I could work with them again and man was I out of shape from taking that break. It really showed me how much it did for me. It was so bad I couldn't confidently spar at the end of the night, so I had to sit it out. I offered to pay for the one class, but they told me the one night was ok. Great people. Great Gym. Special shoutout to Master Roberto. At the time I went he was running the Kickboxing section which is what I mostly did. He was patient, firm, knowledgeable, and fun. My growth over that first year was phenomenal. Thank you, Master Roberto, if you see this. Also, shoutout to Coach Joe. My first ever class was with him in the Boxing class on a Saturday. He whopped me with only jabs I'm pretty sure! Shoutout to Coach Joey as well for filling Master Robertos shoes exceptionally. Always fostering such a positive environment. I am going to be starting again tonight. Wish me luck. Hope to see you there! don't be afraid. They will take good care of you! Sorry it took me so long to write this Master Roberto. Hope to see you soon!

Both great atmosphere and great training/ coaches! You don't often find that combo in martial arts gyms.they've got BBJ (also the he add coach has a black belt in BJJ and Judo) and Muay Thai. I forgot the name of the two main coaches, but they know what they're doing. I think they've had legit cage fights or something.

If you're nervous about starting martial arts then I suggest training here. I went in for my first class and I've been here ever since. The environment is great to work in and as long as you apply what you learn it's well worth the experience and money. I truly recommend third law to anyone new and experienced

My daughter has gone to Team Third Law for 3 years. This past year we did the after school program. We’ve recommended this gym to everyone! The staff is amazing; quick to respond, trustworthy with kids, encouraging, respectful, stern yet kind. Coach Joe has left such a positive impact on my daughter. He really made all the difference both at the after school program and at practice. My daughter learned a lot both mentally and physically here. It was just what we needed and I’m thankful for everything this facility has taught her.
