STRENGTH IS FOR EVERYONE

I am going to make it very simple. You need physical strength and mobility if you want to add value to your life regardless of where you are at.

There are usually two reasons why people come to me for their strength needs. They are either an athlete looking to get one leg up on the competition or a person that is trying to get a leg up in life.

The interesting thing about strength is that regardless of where you are we always begin the same way:

With a scientific approach.

Hi my name is Roberto Torralbas, and I want to give you an opportunity to receive the same quality training that until this point a very lucky few have received (usually my top tier pro athletes or a very few selected clients). At this point in my life I don’t work with just anyone. For me, I have to make sure that our goals align and that you are onboard with what it will require for me to give you results. Luckily for you, if you have the right mindset, I am really a stubborn person and I’ll go to the ends of the earth to get you results. Before I tell you what you will experience training with me, let me rewind a bit back to my journey into strength.

It all started with the dream of being a World Champion in Brazilian Jiu jitsu over a decade ago, and as I got closer to the dream becoming reality, I realized my competition was…

CHEATING!

…using steroids.

Steroids are illegal in a combat sport where you can cause real harm to an opponent. But the problem for most people nowadays has nothing to do with combat sports, it’s that you have all these fitness gurus telling people that their trick is discipline — when in reality is the syringe. We can talk about that another time.

I was very discouraged by the noticeable strength these people had and before you say it, I’ll say it for you …. Yes, technique can conquer all, but these athletes were also super technical. Luckily for me, as I mentioned before I never quit, so I started doing research and research about ways to become stronger and I ran across book titled: “Starting Strength” by Mark Rippetoe.

And all the sudden:

I SAW A LIGHTBULB GO ON.

The book is great and I recommend every single of my clients to get it, read it, and study it like I did. But understand this, and this is very important

READING A BOOK WON’T GET YOU STRONGER

GETTING UNDER A BARBELL WILL.

Due to my experience in the martial arts and how long it took me to reach mastery , I realized I needed help, a mentor when it came to the barbell. That’s where I met Jordan Stanton, an animal who taught me and continues to teach me to this day. I formed a friendship like the one I hope to form with you one day.

I started getting Stronger, I started winning against the steroid freaks, my athletes got stronger, but here is the real kicker…

My wife got pregnant and she got stronger during her pregnancy, gaining less weight and more muscle than her first pregnancy.

And my 62 year old mom, when I ran her though the training, also began to lose weight and move 100% better.

THIS IS REALLY POWERFUL STUFF!

Read What One of My Clients, Scott, Has to Say...

“Do you want to be as strong as you can be? I recommend Third Law and Starting Strength with Roberto Torralbas. Regardless of your age (I’m 68) you can get stronger than you are now, and Starting Strength and its Novice Linear Progression is an easy-to-follow methodology. Roberto is excellent at helping you with your form so that you can reach your maximum potential utilizing the Starting Strength program. Read about the book, Starting Strength, and you will understand how it has sold more than 300,000 copies, far and away the best-selling book about barbell training. Cornell-educated Roberto is committed to helping you be the strongest you can be. Increased strength will help you in your other pursuits—I have won four gold medals in pickleball since I began training with Roberto.”

Here is what Coach Joe has to say:

Here’s How Lifting Helped My Pregnant Wife…

“As an athlete, going through pregnancy the first time was a bit shocking.

After training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 4 years I was used to my body having a certain amount of strength, mobility and movement.

But pregnancy is a whole new experience for your body, and for awhile, everything about it changes — your weight, your strength, your center of balance. You just have to go along for the ride.

It’s amazing and challenging, and 100% worth it … but it also requires work to get back to your previous level of fitness. I was able to lose all the weight, gain back my strength and resume competing in BJJ at the highest level… but it took time.

So when Roberto and I decided to have another baby last year, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. And, there was one difference.

About 6 months before we decided to get pregnant, I started weight training with him, following the Starting Strength linear progression. I squatted, I deadlifted, I benched and I pressed, and I noticed that I was getting stronger… it was nice.

So when I did get pregnant, there was no question in my mind whether I would continue lifting. I knew I would. It was just how.

Roberto consulted his coach about how to go forward, and I continued throughout my pregnancy. I listened to my body and really focused on my form with lots of help from Roberto.

Anytime the weight didn’t go up, or something didn’t feel right, Roberto helped me with my form or adjusted the amount.

The result?

I gained 10 pounds less with our son Mateo than I had with our daughter Rosa… even though I was pregnant for 5 weeks longer.

I think the strength training had a lot to do with the difference.

I also had a very easy birth with a very short labor (although all moms know that no birth is exactly easy….). I have no idea if lifting had anything to do with it, but I can’t imagine that it hurts to be in great shape when facing a tremendously challenging physical task like giving birth.

Check out this video of me squatting 155 pounds 4×3 at 39 weeks pregnant. That was the last time I squatted before he was born just 10 days later. I also deadlifted and pressed to the end.

I restarted 6 weeks postpartum, and again, with Roberto’s careful help, I have been lifting ever since. This time I have less baby weight to lose than last time, and it is also coming off faster.

But more than weight loss, the biggest benefit of lifting postpartum, is feeling my strength returning — in particular to my core, which takes a major beating during pregnancy.”.

I was a first time guest at Team Third Law today. They answered my questions, I was able to sign an online waiver, and I enjoyed my first class. All the participants were welcoming and the instructor, Coach Joe, helped me to understand the techniques he was demonstrating. He also made sure that I was matched with a suitable training partner. I highly recommend that everyone, from the curious, to the hobbyist, to the experienced martial artist check out Team Third Law!

I dropped in tonight for the Thursday Muay Thai session while in town and had a fantastic experience. Coach Joey was knowledgeable, friendly, and communicated techniques clearly while providing helpful feedback. The gym environment was awesome, everyone was welcoming, and there was a great mix of skill levels, making it easy for both beginners and advanced students to feel comfortable. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town and highly recommend anyone interested try an intro session here. Thank you again, Team Third Law!

There are not enough words to describe how much we love and appreciate Team Third Law Academy. My five-year-old daughter is absolutely thriving! Her confidence and self-esteem have grown tremendously since she started, and she truly enjoys every single class. She’s always excited to go and practice with her teammates. Coach Joe and the entire coaching staff are beyond professional—respectful, encouraging, and such amazing role models for the kids. They create an environment where children feel supported, challenged, and inspired. We genuinely feel like a part of one big family here. If you're looking for a positive, nurturing, and empowering environment for your child to grow both on and off the mats, we highly recommend joining Team Third Law. It’s been a game-changer for our family!

I am a 67 year old snow bird who winters in Naples and decided to take up Muay Thai as part of my retirement. I tried out Third Law based on its proximity to my residence and the wonderful reviews it had gotten. Best choice ever. Coach Joey is wonderful. His classes are great and entirely welcoming to students of all (adult) ages and experience levels. My experience, for example, was zero, while others in the class were quite experienced. Coach Joey fosters a community where each participant is respected. I just can’t say enough about this team and my time at Third Law. My class is now another reason I’m looking forward to trekking back to Naples next Winter.

We started sending our eldest child to TTL in spring 2022 and have continued ever-since. Our youngest now also now attends. We also started using TTL for summer camp last year and the kids love it! The coaches & staff at TTL are tough as nails but have the patience of saints, which is the perfect combination for our childrens' needs. We are very happy with our years at TTL.

My brother and I were visiting the Fort Myers area a few years back and decided to drop into a local Jiu Jitsu gym in the area. There were other gyms that were closer to where we were staying, but this gym had a lot of great reviews and when I called they were very friendly. My brother and I had a great experience and got good training for a noon class (typically smaller classes than an evening class). We would recommend this gym to anyone in the area or traveling from out of area.

This year was the first time my kiddos attended Team Third Laws Summer camp and we were not dissapointed. The kids had a blast on all the field trips and loved participating in the martial arts classes they did 3 times a week. A big plus was the kids were not on their tablets all summer and were continously active! The staff was amazing and we look forward to camp next year. If i had to give one critique it would be to extend camp a few more weeks:)

We were looking for a class for our 7 year old that was not only fun but would teach him skills such as respect and discipline. We are thoroughly enjoying the facility, the way that class is taught, and the kind yet stern nature the coach teaches all the kids. Very impressed!

Started the program about two years ago, and before that i had no fighting experience. I was always interested in learning but, found myself always fearing I would go in, and it be full of ego. However, I was pleasantly surprised upon entering how friendly everyone is and calm even with someone so new to the concept as I. That extends to the staff as well as the other students. They thrust you into sparring at the end of each class (not forced but highly encouraged) even if it is your first class. I wasn't expecting that, but it is what I'm there for, so I went with it. The experience was amazing. The people I sparred with, was all in good fun and very informative in terms of technique and skill. They didn't make it easy though. Wouldn't want them too either. It's a fight it is not supposed to be. But if you ever needed a break from punching each other in the face it was perfectly normal, and you just talk about life for a minute and go back to it. Such an incredible feeling to be on such good terms with people after trying to beat one another up. Jokes, compliments on good hits and combos. No ego in sight. Never in the year and some change did I have a bad experience there and wow what improvement I received to my health and confidence. It translated to all aspects of my life. A real game changer. I had to take a break for a time and canceled my subscription due to life, but when i found time one night around christmas I wanted to see my old sparring partners. I was welcomed with open arms and gloves. They took me in so that I could work with them again and man was I out of shape from taking that break. It really showed me how much it did for me. It was so bad I couldn't confidently spar at the end of the night, so I had to sit it out. I offered to pay for the one class, but they told me the one night was ok. Great people. Great Gym. Special shoutout to Master Roberto. At the time I went he was running the Kickboxing section which is what I mostly did. He was patient, firm, knowledgeable, and fun. My growth over that first year was phenomenal. Thank you, Master Roberto, if you see this. Also, shoutout to Coach Joe. My first ever class was with him in the Boxing class on a Saturday. He whopped me with only jabs I'm pretty sure! Shoutout to Coach Joey as well for filling Master Robertos shoes exceptionally. Always fostering such a positive environment. I am going to be starting again tonight. Wish me luck. Hope to see you there! don't be afraid. They will take good care of you! Sorry it took me so long to write this Master Roberto. Hope to see you soon!

Both great atmosphere and great training/ coaches! You don't often find that combo in martial arts gyms.they've got BBJ (also the he add coach has a black belt in BJJ and Judo) and Muay Thai. I forgot the name of the two main coaches, but they know what they're doing. I think they've had legit cage fights or something.

If you're nervous about starting martial arts then I suggest training here. I went in for my first class and I've been here ever since. The environment is great to work in and as long as you apply what you learn it's well worth the experience and money. I truly recommend third law to anyone new and experienced

My daughter has gone to Team Third Law for 3 years. This past year we did the after school program. We’ve recommended this gym to everyone! The staff is amazing; quick to respond, trustworthy with kids, encouraging, respectful, stern yet kind. Coach Joe has left such a positive impact on my daughter. He really made all the difference both at the after school program and at practice. My daughter learned a lot both mentally and physically here. It was just what we needed and I’m thankful for everything this facility has taught her.

We have had a wonderful experience at this gym. The coaches are knowledgeable, and the kids are learning much more than just how to submit an opponent. This gym teaches how to be a good person who is contributing and thriving in society. Worth every penny.
